October Newsletter 2025

Share on:

From welcoming an inspiring new mentor to hosting our code courage and change event, October reminded us just how powerful it is when women in STEM come together to share stories, insights, and inspiration.

We were delighted to welcome Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya to the Love Tech mentor team! As the Isle of Man’s Information Commissioner, Alexandra brings a wealth of knowledge in data ethics, privacy, and technology — and a wonderfully unique career path that’s taken her from studying Religions and Theology (South Asian Studies) to international development, consulting, and regulation.

October also saw the return of Women in Tech Week Event, where we hosted our panel event Code, Courage and Change at MannBenham’s beautiful new space in Douglas. The evening brought together students, professionals, and tech allies for open, inspiring discussions about what it really means to be a woman in tech today.

A huge thank you to our panelists on the night — Harley Garrett, Georgia Wilson, and Natalie Gallagher.

It’s been an inspiring month for Love Tech — and we’re so grateful to everyone who continues to champion our mission to Inspire, Empower, and Engage women and girls in STEM across the Isle of Man.

Event Spotlight: Women in Tech Week 2025 –  Code, Courage and Change

This October, we brought together students, professionals, and tech allies for an evening of honest stories, practical insights, and empowering conversationsabout what it really means to be a woman in tech today.

Our panellists shared everything from career journeys and self-doubt to community, coding, and confidence. It was inspiring, real, and a brilliant reminder that tech needs diverse voices — and that we all play a part in creating space for them.

A huge thank you to our incredible panel:

👩‍💻 Harley Garrett – Web Developer

📊 Georgia Wilson – Actuary

⚙️ Natalie Gallagher – COO, LEMA Logic

(and to Jenni Devine, Associate Director, Cyber Security Ops at Flutter Entertainment PLC, who couldn’t make it on the night – you were missed!)

The evening left us feeling inspired, empowered, and reminded that when women support women, amazing things happen.

This Month at Love Tech: Welcoming a New Tech Mentor!

This month, we’re thrilled to welcome Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya to

the Love Tech Mentor Team!

Alexandra brings a wealth of experience, curiosity, and inspiration to our growing community of STEM role models. Currently serving as the Isle of Man’s Information Commissioner, she’s passionate about data ethics, privacy, and helping the next generation understand how technology and regulation work together in

today’s digital world.

Her career journey has been anything but linear — and that’s exactly what makes it so inspiring! From studying Religions and Theology (South Asian Studies) to working in international development, management consulting, and now regulation, Alexandra’s path shows how curiosity and courage can shape a unique and

fulfilling career in tech.

💬 One of her favourite quotes comes from Melinda Gates:

“A woman with a voice is by definition a strong woman. But the search to find that voice can be remarkably difficult.”

And because we love a good fun fact…

🎬 Alexandra has a PhD in Bollywood films

🌍 She’s travelled to 38 countries (and counting!)

✉️ As a child, she once wrote to UK Prime Minister John Major to complain about roadworks — and got a reply!

We’re so excited to have Alexandra on board and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make as part of our Mentor Programme.
