November Newsletter 2025

Share on:

November has been a brilliant month for Love Tech — full of inspiring new connections, behind-the-scenes creativity, and a continued celebration of the women shaping our island’s STEM community.

This month, we were thrilled to welcome Wilna Gerber to the Love Tech M

Mentor Team!

We also spent time this month filming new Mentor Videos with Glenn Whorrall. Several of our brilliant mentors stepped in front of the camera to share their stories — from what first sparked their interest in STEM to the moments, people, and challenges that shaped their careers. We can’t wait to share these inspiring videos with you over the coming months, so keep an eye on our YouTube and socials!

And of course, we’re celebrating our November Mentor of the Month: Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya. Alexandra’s career path — spanning theology, international development, consulting, and now technology regulation — is a powerful reminder that there’s no such thing as a “typical” STEM journey. Her passion for data ethics and empowering the next generation shines through in everything she does.

It’s been another inspiring month at Love Tech and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to champion our mission to Inspire, Empower and Engage women and girls in STEM across the Isle of Man.

Mentor Filming: Behind the Scenes, This November

This month, we teamed up with Glenn Whorrall to film a brand new series of mentor videos for our YouTube channel. A number of our amazing Love Tech mentors joined us to share their personal journeys into STEM from the moments that first sparked their interest, to the experiences and turning points that led them to where

they are today.

They opened up about what their roles look like day to day, the skills they rely on most, what keeps their work exciting, and why being a Love Tech mentor means so much to them. They also shared inspiring advice for young people who are exploring future careers in STEM.

We’re so excited to bring these stories to life and share them with you. Keep an eye on our YouTube and social channels over the coming months, these mentor videos are truly special, and we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve

been working on.

Welcoming a New Math Mentor:  Wilna Gerber

Wilna joins Love Tech with a brilliant blend of mathematical thinking, creativity, and hands-on experience — all of which she brings to her role as a Cost Consultant and Quantity Surveyor at Bell Burton Associates, where she helps deliver construction projects with accuracy, value, and collaboration at the heart.

With a deep-rooted love for the built environment, Wilna’s journey into engineering and construction began early. From renovating a fixer-upper home with her dad at just fifteen to studying Quantity Surveying at the University of the Free State in South Africa, her path has been shaped by curiosity, creativity, and a passion for understanding how things are made.

Since then, she’s worked across a wide range of industrial, commercial, residential, and civil engineering projects — first in South Africa, and now here on the Isle of Man, where she supports major clients including the Isle of Man Government and Manx Utilities. Every project is a new challenge, and Wilna thrives on the blend of technical detail, teamwork, and problem-solving that her role demands.

💬 One of her favourite quotes — and a guiding mantra for her career — comes from Eleanor Roosevelt:

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

And of course, we love a good fun fact…

🏗️ Her favourite thing about the construction industry?

That it’s always evolving — a dynamic, future-driven field embracing new technologies and innovative ways of building.

📚 When she’s not immersed in STEM, you’ll find her:

Curled up with a good book, out walking her two mischievous dachshunds, or teaming up with friends around the world for some online gaming.

📺 Wilna’s top STEM picks include:

• The B1M (YouTube)

• MegaBuilds (YouTube)

• How It’s Made (Prime Video)

We’re incredibly excited to have Wilna on board and can’t wait to see the insight, enthusiasm, and inspiration she’ll bring to our Mentor Programme.

Today, she’s passionate about data ethics, privacy, and helping young people understand the vital relationship between technology and the law in our digital world.
