Hi, I’m Betty!

Here are a few facts about me — and why I’m so passionate about inspiring and empowering people just like you to explore opportunities in STEM…

My career specialism:

Engineering.

My current role:

Planning Policy Officer.

When not STEM-ing you can find me…

Cooking for and with my friends, walking with my dog, paddleboarding or reading.

Fun fact about me:

I have collection of about 50 pairs of gloves/ me and my dog share a birthday/ I like licorice!

My career path:

After finishing highschool where I was interested in everything, I applied for architecture and social anthropology to study at uni. I picked architecture, and enjoyed the studies, met lot of great people, travelled and learned a lot. After my masters I worked for a year in my hometown Bratislava as an architect, then I moved to Stockholm for an internship and stayed there for another 5 years in couple of jobs as urban designer and architect. When I moved to the Isle of Man, I started to freelance as a consultant, after 4 years I got the opportunity to join the Isle of Man Government and Planning Policy, while still occasionally taking free-lance projects. I learned to recognise my passions and talents, visual expression in my drawings and the magic of connecting people to make great things happen.
