Worried about social media, gaming or AI and how it’s impacting your children and the younger generation?

Mum Tech is a supportive 6-week tech confidence course designed to help parents feel empowered and better informed about the digital world.

Book all 6 dates, or just the sessions you think you’ll benefit from.

*The course content is aimed at mums. However, this course is open to anyone who is looking to develop tech skills for the work, home and homework arena.

HERE’S WHAT’S ON WHICH DATE:

WEEK 1: Thursday 26th February – Online Safety and Cyber Awareness

An introduction to digital safety, exploring what cybersecurity means in everyday life and how to protect yourself and your family when using digital devices. Includes practical guidance on reducing the risks of cyberbullying and staying safe online.

WEEK 2: Thursday 5th March – Social Media Awareness

An overview of popular social media platforms and their key features. This session helps parents better understand how children engage online and suggests positive ways to explore social media together.

WEEK 3: Thursday 12th March – Gaming with Chris Kissack

An interactive session with guest speaker Chris Kissack, focusing on the games young people enjoy. Participants will gain insight into gaming culture and have the chance to ask questions about gameplay, safety, and screen time.

WEEK 4: Thursday 19th March – Money Matters in the Digital Age

A beginner-friendly introduction to investing, delivered by Ewelina Sims from Ramsey Crookall. This session also compares traditional online banking with digital banking, explains the basics of cryptocurrencies, and introduces simple spreadsheet tools for managing personal budgets.

WEEK 5: Thursday 26th March – AI with Natalie Gallagher from LEMA Logic

A hands on introduction to artificial intelligence, showing how technology can be used creatively at home. With guest speaker Natalie Gallagher from LEMA Logic, this session demonstrates fun, practical activities that parents and children can explore together.

WEEK 6: Wednesday 1st April – IT Skills for Work and Study

Practical digital skills to support employment and learning, including improving CVs, using LinkedIn effectively, understanding cloud storage, building confidence with email, and using AI tools to support study and productivity.

Social media -An overview of social media apps and how to use them.  Understand more about how your children might use them and things you can do together. 

WEEK 3: Monday 10th March: 

Updating your CV. Using LinkedIn. An overview of Cloud Storage. Email confidence. Using Ai to support learning.

WEEK 4: Monday 17th March: 

Gaming – Fun session with guest speaker Chris Kissack learning more about the games your children are playing and an opportunity to have some of your gaming questions answered.

WEEK 5: Monday 24th March: 

Money matters – Online banking software for budgeting that also includes an introduction to investing with Ramsey Crookall.

WEEK 6: Monday 31st March: 

Coding & Ai – An introduction into Ai and coding to create something fun you can do with your children
