Hi, I’m Joanne, Love Tech committee member and volunteer.

Here are a few fun facts about me and also my video about why I’m passionate about inspiring and empowering people just like you to explore opportunities in STEM.

My specialism:

I’m a seasoned tech and energy industry professional with over 25 years of experience, renowned for driving digital and sustainable transformation globally.

My current role:

Executive Director and Co-founder of The ESG Institute.

3 fun facts about me:

  1.  I have walked on fire – and it showed me I can push through all imagined boundaries.
  2.  Having had my own dog sled team in Canada, the best day out for me is -20C in the bush with a team of dogs and a fresh snow fall.
  3.  I have lived in 5 countries, and visited over 20 (with more to come!).

When not STEM-ing you can find me…

Writing my first book, hiking, reading, learning new things and public speaking.

My career path:

As a Canadian native, my international tenure includes a transformative decade at Siemens Energy as Global Head of IT, where I led large-scale digital initiatives.

My leadership role now extends to Executive Director and Co-founder of The ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) Institute, where I partner with organisations to demystify and implement sustainability strategies.

My approach to integrating IoT and ESG targets is pragmatic – this means I aim to help organisations work better in a way that makes money, yet supports climate change. I do this with a simple, step-by-step approach.

Throughout my career I have always demonstrated dedication to tech excellence and sustainable progress. This attitude has made me a valued partner for businesses looking to navigate and succeed in the ever-evolving digital landscape. In addition to this, it has led to my position as an acclaimed public speaker, where I can often be found championing Women in Tech, STEM education and green technology.
